The organ contains older material: Pipes from 1866 by David Hamilton
In Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh there has been an organ by Hamilton from 1866, that was relocated to Edinburgh from the Park Street Church in Glasgow in 1901. This organ was in a desolate state - partly due to several very poorly executed rebuilds and renovations - after which it was decided to tear it down and replace it. Peter Collins built a new three-manual organ, which incorporates various ranks from the Hamilton organ. The consultant was Michael Chibbett, the church's organist, who also designed the specifications. The reeds of Great and Positive are German in character, while the reeds of Swell are made in the style of Clicquot.
