The Walcker firm supplied a large concert organ for Boston Music Hall in 1863. This concert hall was opened on November 20, 1852. On October 31, 1863, the organ was officially inaugurated. On November 2nd, 1863, the inauguration concert was given by several prominent American organists: John K. Paine, Eugene Thayer, G.W. Morgan, B.J. Lang, S.P. Tuckerman and J.H. Willcox.
The instrument was later rebuilt and has been expanded several times. Already in 1882 there were plans to sell the organ, because it would take up too much space. In June 1884 the transfer to the building of the North East Conservatory of Music in Boston started. The organ was put up for sale in 1897. In 1909 it was transferred to Serlo Organ Hall in Methuen. In 1947 the organ was converted by Aeolian-Skinner.
