The organ contains older material: from 1722 by Manuel Lourenço da Conceição
In 1719, Fr. Lourenço da Conceição started building new organs on the choir of the Porto Se Cathedral. The cases are manufactured by Luis Pereira da Costa. In 1728 it was completed. António José dos Santos rebuilt the organ on the epistle side in 1869 and gave it a more romantic character. The company Flentrop restored the instruments in 1969-1971.
