After the construction of a new cultural center 'am Gasteig' in Munich, opened on November 10, 1985, the Klais company was commissioned to build a large concert organ in the main hall. The instrument is set high above the stage. There is a mechanical console at the organ, but also a freely placeable electric console on the stage floor. In 2004 the organ was renovated and re-voiced.
