- In 1721/1722 Gottfried Silbermann built a new organ for the Marienkirche in Rötha. The instrument was overhauled and cleaned by Urban Kreutzbach in 1833/1834. He tuned the organ in an equal temperament, removed the tremulant and added a pedal coupler. The pewter front pipes (that were not speaking) were removed in 1917. New prospect pipes were not installed until 1935, during a major restoration by Hermann Eule.
- Because the church was in poor condition, the instrument was disassembled and stored in 1942. Storage in the Georgenkirche in Roetha followed in 1945. Five years later it was built up in the city hall of Leipzig and exhibited during the Bach Exhibition in 1950 in Berlin. There have been plans to relocate the organ to the Thomaskirche in Leipzig.
- Herman Eule overhauled the organ in 1960 and returned it to its original location: the Marienkirche in Rötha. The organ was restored in 2008 by Ekkehart Groß.
