The organ in the Village Church of Frankenstein is the last instrument that Gottfried Silbermann built. He died in August 1753, just before its completion. The organ was subsequently completed by his cousin Johann Daniel Silbermann. In 1882, the instrument was damaged by lightning strikes in the tower of the church. August Schubert restored it after this, without changing anything. The company Jehmlich overhauled the organ again in 1934. Much wooden pipe work was infected with woodworm and had to be replaced. An Aeoline 8' was placed on a separate (pneumatic) chest, which could be operated via the drawer of the Tremulant. The organ was now painted in a red color. The original white color was restored during a later restoration.
