In 1990-1991 Jürgen Ahrend built a new main organ for the Basilica di San Simpliciano in Milan. It was erected on a new gallery on the west side of the church. The specification is inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's design for the organ that Johann Friedrich Wender built in 1709 for the church of Mühlhausen.
