  • The organ of the abbey church in Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye was built in 1748 by Samson Scherrer. Much material was taken from the existing organ, which was in very poor condition. The case of the main organ was built in 1625 by Jean-Laurent Astruc. The case of the positive organ was added in 1639 by Jérémie Carlin, Michel Joly and Louis Baron.
  • After the dissolution of the abbey, it was decided in 1805 that the organ should be moved to the Église Saint-Louis in Grénoble. Here it was extensively renovated in 1903. The action was pneumaticized and the disposition was altered. In 1931 a conversion to electro-pneumatic action followed and a further expansion of the instrument.
  • But after several year, the organ returned to its original location. In 1981 it was dismantled in Grénoble. The organ cases were erected in 1984 in the old abbey church after a restoration. The interior was rebuilt by Bernard Aubertin in the years 1990-1992 according to the specifications from 1748. On September 16, 1992, Michel Chapuis played a concert on the occasion of the inauguration of the reconstructed organ. Five stops had not yet been placed. These were eventually installed in 2001.
