  • The organ in the Basilique of Saint-Omer was built by Cavaillé-Coll in the case of the previous instrument, which had been delivered in 1715-1717 by the Desfontaines brothers. The organ case was manufactured by Jean and Antoine Joseph Piette in collaboration with Jacques Baligand. The old instrument had 52 registers on four manuals (Grand-Orgue, Positif, Écho and a Récit and Pédale). After various restorations and renovations, the organ had become so bad in 1850 that it could no longer be played. The classical instrument was replaced by the current one between 1853 and 1855 by Cavaillé-Coll. In addition to placing thirty new registers, he also retained nineteen old stops. The reborn organ was inaugurated on June 26, 1855 with a concert by Léfébure-Wély, organist of the Saint Sulpice in Paris.
  • A restoration was carried out in 1927 by Antoine Sequiès. The wind supply was electrified. He replaced the pedal keyboard with a new one with a compass of thirty keys (C-f'). Because there were no tones on the windchest for the highest three keys, these only speak via the coupling to Grand-Orgue. On May 1, 1927, the organ was returned to service with a concert by Henri Nibelle. A new restoration was necessary around 1970, but it could not start until 1985. The company Haerpfer carried out the work. On December 11, 1988, the instrument was re-opened with a concert by Jean Boyer and Philippe Lefebvre.
