The organ contains older material: Organ case from 1846 by E.F. Walcker & Cie.
In 1846/1847, the German firm Walcker built a large organ with 54 registers, divided over three manuals and pedal, as opus 64 in the Tuomiokirkko (Cathedral) of Helsinki. It had mechanical action with cone chests. The instrument was expanded by Walcker in 1890 and fitted with a pneumatic action. This was followed by further modifications in 1933 and 1949 by the Kangasala company. The organ served in this form until 1967. In that year the company Marcussen & Søn built a new organ with 57 stops behind the historic prospect.
