- Guildford cathedral is a fairly young building. Before World War II, the choir, transept and aisles were completed. After this, construction of the ship continued. The Liverpudlian firm of Rushworth & Dreaper built an organ in the cathedral in 1961. Material from an old instrument from Harrison & Harrison was used in the construction. It was inaugurated in 1962 with a play by André Marchal. Another Positive was posted in the same year. The carvings were made by Mr Constable of Caversham. Edward Maufe designed the organ case.
- In 1990 the Positive also got its own movable gaming table. In 1993, the Positive's Nason Flute 4' was replaced by a Principal 4', and a Positive to Solo link was also installed. The Rohr Gedekt 8' from the Positive was also made playable from the Swell. In 1999 the Piccolo 2' of Solo was replaced by a Vox Humana 8' and a tremulant was placed on the Positive.
