Adresse: 1 Rue Sainte-Croix, 86000, Poitiers
Description no.: 2000648.
Bâti par: François-Henri Clicquot (1791)
The organ in the Cathédrale of Poitiers is the last instrument built by François-Henri Clicquot, in the years 1790-1791. It has been preserved almost entirely in its original condition. The wind supply was renewed in 1871 by Joseph Merklin. After that there were plans to have a new organ built in the cases by the firm Cavaillé-Coll, but these plans were canceled due to lack of money. Some small mofidications were carried out, especially in the mechanical construction. In the years 1988 to 1994, the organ was extensively restored by Jean-Loup Boisseau and Bertrand Cattiaux.
