- The organ in the Sankt Nikolauskirche in Eupen was originally built in 1760-1762 by Guillaume Robustelly, organ maker in the region. The organ had three manuals and an attached pedal. The instrument was examined by the Aachen organist Jantrain on January 7, 1764.
- On June 11, 1949, a fire broke out in the church, that destroyed the north tower, and damages the organ.
- Because the drastically modified instrument was in very poor condition, it was decided in 1966 to have a new organ built in the old case. The company Verschueren from Heythuysen in the Netherlands was awarded the contract. It was decided to rebuild the original stop list. Slider chests have been installed, but with electric stop control. The organ case was overhauled by Emile Verschueren of Tongeren. The organ was expanded with a Rückpositiv in a new case, but with an old prospect, that was in store at the premises of Verschueren in Tongeren. Construction consultants were Paul Nolens on behalf of the Belgian government, Mr P. Raderschall from Aachen and the organist of the church, Bruno Bastin. Gaston Litaize played the inauguration concert on June 1st, 1970.
