The organ contains older material: Organ case from 1685 by Renatus Harris
In Bristol Cathedral plaatste Renatus Harris in 1685 een nieuw orgel. Het had twee frontzijden, gericht naar het koor en naar het schip. Harris bouwde een instrument met drie manualen (Great, Echo en Choir). Het Choir had geen eigen stemmen. Hierin kwam verandering in 1786, toen Seede vijf stemmen op het Choir plaatste. Vowles verbouwde het orgel in 1860. Deze plaatste de beide fronten naast elkaar. In 1907 verbouwde Walker het instrument tot het huidige orgel. Aan het orgel in nog gewerkt in 1947 en 1970, eveneens door Walker. In 1990 werden enkele registers gewijzigd of vervangen. In 2004 voerde de firma Cawston een revisie uit.
