- Het vorige orgel van Saint John's College Chapel werd in 1869 gebouwd door William Hill. Bij de bouw werden de orgelkassen van het oude orgel opnieuw gebruikt. Dit werk ging terug op Robert Dallam en dateerde van 1636. Het orgel was veelvuldig gewijzigd en tenslotte was het in 1839 door William Hill gemoderniseerd. In 1889 werden nieuwe orgelkassen geplaatst, ontworpen door J. Oldrid Scott. De oude kassen zijn gesplitst verkocht. De kas van Great staat thans in Old Bilton en de kas van het Chaire Organ in Brownsover.
- Onder advies van Cyril Rootham, organist van het college, is het orgel in 1902 door Norman & Beard herbouwd met pneumatische tracturen. Ook de dispositie werd gewijzigd. Harrison & Harrison voerde in 1922 een nieuwe verbouwing uit. In de jaren 1955-1956 is het orgel door Hill, Norman & Beard herbouwd met electro-pneumatische tractuur. De dispositie is ingrijpend gewijzigd en uitgebreid. In 1974 voerde dezelfde firma een revisie uit. Het orgel is in 1993 afgebroken en vervangen door een grotendeels nieuw instrument van Noel Mander.
