  • In 1835 bouwde John Smith een groot nieuw orgel voor Bath Abbey. Het oude instrument was gebouwd rond 1718, waarschijnlijk door Abram Jordan. Het werd in 1802 door John Holland vergroot. Bij de bouw gebruikte Smith vrijwel geen materiaal van het oude orgel.
  • In 1895 demonteerden Norman & Beard het instrument en bouwden het na restauratie en wijziging weer op in vijf gedeelten. De oude kas werd in 1897 geplaatst in de parochiekerk Saint Peter and Paul in Cromer, Norfolk. In de noordelijke zijbeuk onder de toren werden Swell en Choir geplaatst, terwijl Great en Solo een plaats kregen in de zuidelijke zijbeuk. Het pedaal werd opgesteld in twee gedeelten in het noordelijke transept. Het orgel kreeg een vrijstaande verplaatsbare speeltafel, die een vaste plaats kreeg in het noordwesten van de kerk, onder de toren. Deze opstelling was niet erg gunstig voor de klank van het instrument, en had ook veel nadelen voor de organist. Vandaar dat het gehele instrument in 1914 in een nieuwe kas is geplaatst. Deze kas is nog altijd in gebruik. In 1914 werden ook enkele registers vervangen.
  • In 1948 plaatste men een nieuwe Tuba 8' op het Solo Organ, en is de windvoorziening vernieuwd. Er volgde nog een restauratie in 1962. Omdat het instrument desondanks steeds meer gebreken ging vertonen, is besloten om het geheel te verbouwen. In 1972 startten de werkzaamheden, uitgevoerd door Hill, Norman & Beard. De dispositie werd ingrijpend gewijzigd, de tractuur werd electro-pneumatisch gemaakt. De speeltafel is grotendeels hergebruikt, maar de klavieren zijn wel vernieuwd. Door de wijzigingen is het orgel meer geschikt gemaakt voor alle literatuur, terwijl het oude instrument voornamelijk geschikt was voor romantische muziek.
  • In 1997 is het orgel geheel omgebouwd en vernieuwd door de firma Klais. Adviseurs bij de werkzaamheden waren de organist van de kerk, Peter King, en Nicholas Kynaston. Ongeveer de helft van het bestaande pijpwerk is opnieuw gebruikt. Op 3 oktober 1997 werd het instrument weer in gebruik genomen.
