In the years 1745-1751, Johann Patroclus Möller built a new large organ for the Marienfeld abbey church. During the construction he used parts from the previous organ. The organ originally had spring chest. In 1884 these were replaced by slider chests. In 1925 these were again replaced by pneumatic cone chests. At this rebuilt the positive was emptied, and behind the organ a new swell box was installed.
The Breil company restored the instrument in 1961/1962. The mechanical action was restored and new slider chests were constructed. The stop list was reconstructed on the basis of a description from 1880. It is very likely that this does not concern the original situation: Möller prepared the Brustwerk, but did not build it. He also had to deal with an outdated pedal keyboard, which he had to take over from the old organ. In 1999 the Kreienbrink company overhauled the organ.
