Built by: Kristian Wegscheider (1997) - opus 31

  • The Loschwitzer Kirche was built in the years 1705-1708. An organ was installed in the church in 1753 by Johann Christof Leibner, built according to the Silbermann tradition. The instrument was renewed in 1898-1899 by the Gebrüder Jehmlich. However, the beautiful church building was lost due to the bombing on February 13, 1945. The ruin remained standing, but rebuilding of the church building was prevented by the government. Only in 1984 plans for reconstruction were made.
  • After German unification things happened much faster. Construction began in 1991, and the church building was put back into use on October 2, 1994. The Wegscheider company was commissioned to build a new organ, which was put into use in 1997. The new organ in Dresden-Loschwitz is inspired by the work of Gottfried Silbermann. At the request of the municipality, the organ is equipped with Wechselschleifen. This means that it is actually a large one-manual organ, but the special slides allow a number of registers to be used separately on the second keyboard. It is remarkable that the instrument has no reeds on the manual.
