- In 1912, J.H. Manuel left a bequest for the construction of an organ in the Hervormde Kerk (Dutch Reformed Church) in Nieuwe Pekela. Until then, there had never been an organ in this church. A year later the company Standaart from Schiedam delivered an organ with one manual and pedal. A new gallery was made to install the organ.
- Mense Ruiter overhauled the instrument in 1964 during the restoration of the church building. In 1973 the stop list was modified by A.J. Opten, assisted by the company Verschueren. He transformed the Voix Celeste 8' into a Quint and remodelled the Cornet V into a Sesquialter.
- More drastic was the renovation by the company Kaat & Tijhuis in 1985. The entire mechanics, including the windchests, were replaced by a new action, with new slider chests. The old ranks were divided over two manuals and supplemented with new stops. A third manual has been placed as a coupling manual. In 1988 a new Principal 8' was installed. The pedal keyboard is still from Standaart.
