In 1942 Verschueren completed a large organ for the Sint Bonifatiuskerk in Leeuwarden. Consultant was Dr. E. Bruning O.F.M. The organ was inaugurated with a recital by Jacques Bos on December 20, 1942. During the construction of the organ, Verschueren made use of thirteen stops from the previous organ, built in 1899 by the company Adema. In this instrument, Adema also used a Van Dam windchest from the previous organ, which had been built for the old Sint Bonifatiuskerk, which was closed in 1884. This windchest was demolished in 1940. The disposition of the organ has been modified in later years.
In 2014, a start was made with making plans and raising funds for a restoration of the organ. In the end it was decided to rebuild the instrument in the style of the Adema organs, with mechanical action and slider chests. Ton van Eck was consultant during the works. The organ was rebuilt by the company Adema Orgelbouw. They started on January 8, 2018. The renewed instrument was delivered at the end of October 2021, but due to the corona circumstances the official commissioning has been postponed until September 11, 2022. After the solemn blessing in the morning, during which Siegfried Derks played the organ, the opening concert by Ton van Eck and Siegfried Derks followed in the afternoon.
