- Mechelen in the municipality of Wittem has a church from the seventeenth century. It was thoroughly renovated in 1810. In 1837 a new tower was built. In 1851 a new organ was built by the Gebrüder Müller. During the construction, many elements from the previous organ of the church were used, such as parts of the organ case and most pipework. These materials date from the eighteenth century. There are indications that it is made by Ludwig König. Müller built only three new stops himself, and a second keyboard.
- In 1891 the organ was enlarged with an independent pedal with three stops, presumably by Ernst Seifert from Cologne-Mannsfeld. Except for this enlargment, everything remained as it was.
- A restoration of the organ was urgently needed in 1974. This was done by the firm Vermeulen from Weert. The Subbass (damaged by woodworm) and the Flöte (replaced by a zinc Violon 8') of the pedal had to be made new. The pedal mechanism has also been improved. The Mixtuur was expanded with one choir, the soprano of the Clairon 4' was made entirely new. Hans van der Harst was consultant during the restoration. The instrument was put into use again on August 17, 1974.
