In 1819 Johann Caspar Friedrichs made a chaire organ (rugpositief) for the organ in the Grote Kerk in Wijk bij Duurstede. In 1970 it was decided to reconstruct the organ to the condition of 1615. The positive was converted into an independent choir organ. Old pipe work from Friedrichs was used for this, as well as the klaviatuur and the organ case. The large statues on the organ were originally placed on the chaire positive in 1907 by Van Ingen from Haarlem.
The organ was moved from the church's choir to the southern transept on February 23, 2018.
