- In 1813, Georg Heinrich Quellhorst built a new instrument for the Plechelmusbasiliek in Oldenzaal. The organ was delivered with 27 stops, two manuals and an independant pedal. The instrument was overhauled by Jacobus Armbrost in 1830. Later works were also carried out by Holtgräve (1844) and Elberink (1856).
- The organ was replaced by a new instrument in Oldenzaal in 1893, after which it was sold to the then new Gereformeerde Westerkerk in Utrecht. The firm Gebr. Franssen installed it here. The company J. de Koff & Son maintained the organ in the following years. They made some changes in 1936, and restored the instrument in 1948. During this restoration, the organ was expanded with eight stops. In 1979, plans were made to restore the organ to the situation of 1813. Eventually the restoration took place in the years 1981-1987 by Fama & Raadgever from Utrecht. The original condition has been reconstructed as much as possible.
- The Westerkerk was closed in 2017 and sold to a project developer in January 2018. The building has been converted into a hotel with facilities for the neighbourhood. The organ remained in the building. The new hotel is called BUNK Utrecht.
