Henricus van Oeckelen was born on March 21, 1835 as the third son of Petrus van Oeckelen, organ builder in Harendermolen. About 1870 he started to work in the firm of Roelf Meijer. After the death of Meijer, he continued the firm for a couple of years. In 1889 he moved his business to Veendam, in 1892 to Wildervank and in 1893 to Rolde. He died on May 8, 1894 in Veendam.
