  • The organ builder Rudolf von Beckerath comes from a musical family. He was born on February 19, 1907 in Munich. His parents moved to Hamburg that same year. Impressed by the organs in this region, especially the work of Arp Schnitger, he decided to become an organ builder. In 1929 he became an assistant to Victor Gonzalez in Chatillon sous Bagneux, near Paris. In 1931 he wanted to switch to Frobenius & Co. in Lingby, Denmark. But he was called back to Paris that same year to become director of the Gonzalez firm. Due to changes in the political relations between France and Germany, Rudolph returned to Hamburg in 1936, where he helped with various projects as an independent organ builder. He later moved to Berlin, was drafted into the army in 1941, and became a prisoner of war of the Americans in 1945.
  • In May 1946 he returned to his family in Münhen. In 1949 he started his company in Hamburg. He built his first large organ for the Musikhalle in Hamburg. Soon he was building organs all over the world. Rudolph died on November 20, 1976, after which his wife and three employees, Herta Deichmann, Helmut Kleemann and Timm Sckopp, took over the management of the company. In 1990, Timm Sckopp became a director of the company.
