Gebrüder Späth

Place
1894Ennetach, Duitsland

The brothers Franz Xaver (1859-1940) and Albert (1866-1948) Späth started working together in 1894 under the name Gebrüder Späth from the workshop of their father Alois (1825-1876) in Ennetach. Another brother, Hermann, took over Pröbstl's workshop in Füssen in 1897. Albert had been apprenticed to the Ladegast and Steinmeyer firms. It was intended that Franz Xaver's son, Franz Späth (January 7, 1901 - April 7, 1924) would take over the company, but he died unexpectedly in San Sebastian in Spain in 1924. His brother Karl Späth (November 3, 1899 - October, 30. 1971), who was a doctor by profession, took over the management. In 1934 his younger brother August (September 4, 1908 - September 25, 1979) also joined the company. August left the company in 1964 and started his own company in Freiburg together with his son Hartwig. After Karl's death in 1971, the company was continued by eight employees under the name Orgelbau Späth GmbH.
