From 1982 to 1992, Richard Nicole worked as an organ builder from Le Senrier, under the corporate name Richard Nicole Manufacture d'orgues. Het learned the skills under the direction of Georges Lhôte from the Manufacture d'Orgues Neidhart et Lhôte, He constructed a number of organs in Switzerland. In 1992 he migrated to Japan, where he started to work for UNESCO. In Japan, Nicole carried out some maintenance and renovation work on pipe organs. Nicole also built a new organ for Japan.
