Andries Severin or Severijn was born around 1605 in Maastricht. He settled in Liège in 1629 as an independent organ builder. In his organs he has achieved a synthesis between Brabant and Liège organ building. Severin was probably a student of Floris Hocque, who stayed in Liège and Maastricht around 1604 and 1617. The Liège inventor Jean Gallé taught him various principles for the construction of an organ. He died in 1673.
