- The company De Wit was founded by Sypke de Wit, born on August 4, 1919, died on July 8, 1997. De Wit learned how to make organs from Spanjaard and Verweijs. In 1940 he settled in Badhoevedorp. In 1945 Sypke's brother also became an employee, but he withdrew in 1956. After this Sipke moved to Nijkerkerveen. The company has been located in Nieuw-Vennep since 1960. His sons Joost (1950), Jan (1952) and Kees (1955) also work in the company. The company currently operates under the name of S. de Wit & Zn. After Sypke's death, Joost was put in charge of the company.
- At the beginning of 2023 it was announced that the company will be dissolved. The music store will be closed on February 1, 2023, the organ workshop will follow on June 30, 2023. The portfolio will be taken over by the company Adema, where Udo de Wit will also be employed.
