Ernst Wälti (1890-1980) started his own organ workshop in Bern around 1920. He initially worked a lot on commission for the Goll company. Wälti had been trained by the German firms Weigle and Walcker, and by Albert Merklin. In 1949 his sons Felix and Kuno took over the company. The company moved to Gümligen near Bern. In 1968 the company was established in a new building on Turbenweg. Since 1989, the company has been owned by Thomas Wälti (1954), son of Felix.
