Heinrich Voltmann was born on April 1, 1830 in Kattenstroth. He settled in 1852 as an organ builder in Klausen. He succeeded Meinolph Knaup here, where he had learned the trade since 1850. His first work was the completion of the great organ of the Sankt Martinskirche in Klausen, which had been built by Knaup. Voltmann built about 20 organs, all in Roman Catholic churches in Germany. He died on July 15, 1909 in his hometown. The company was taken over by his son-in-law Anton Turk.
