Son of Simon Otonicer. After his death in 1784 he took over the workshop. He mainly built smaller organs. The largest work had fifteen stops. Josip died in 1835 and built his last organ in 1832, for the church of Kapelski Vrh. In 1817/1818 the rumor was spread that he had died, but that was only a misleading story that allowed him to avoid his obligations in Gornja Rijeka in Croatia.
