Barnim Grüneberg was born in Stetting on December 27, 1828 with the christening names Karl Barnim Theodor. In 1854 he continued the organ-making of his father August Wilhelm Grüneberg, who died in 1837. In the intervening years, the workshop had been shut down. Barnim learned the trade from Carl August Buchholz (an uncle), Walcker and Cavaillé-Coll. The company was highly productive, and several patents were filed for improvements. In 1906, the company was taken over by his son Felix Grüneberg. Barnim died on August 22, 1907.
