- The organ in the Church of Saint John the Evangelist in Newbury was originally built for the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin in Speenhamland. Speenhamland Church was built in 1829-1831 and dedicated on 16 August 1831. Gray & Davison built an organ for the church in 1855 with three manuals and pedal. It was inaugurated on December 8, 1855 with a concert by Mr. Dodd, organist at Queen's College, Oxford. The church building was closed at the end of 1971 and then demolished. The organ was transferred by Geo. Osmond & Co. to Newbury in 1972-1974.
- The Church of Saint John had been destroyed by bombing in 1943. The old church had an 1874 Bevington & Sons organ, which has also been lost. The new church was dedicated in 1955. When the organ was transferred to Newbury, the specification was reduced by Osmond from three to two manuals, the stop list was modified and some stops were removed, in connection with the space available for the placement of the organ. The dedication took place in 1974. The organ is located on the gallery on the west side of the nave.
