The organ contains older material: Organ case from 1757 by Konrad Brandenstein
Johann Konrad Brandenstein built a new organ for the Niedermünster-Kirche in Regensburg in 1757. From this instrument, only the organ case survived. A new organ was installed in the cases in 1895 by Binder & Siemann. Their organ had 28 stops on two manuals and pedal, pneumatic action and cone chests. In 1948-1949, the organ was overhauled by Eduard Hirnschrodt, who replaced three stops: Dolce 4' (I. Manual) with a Quinte 2 2/3', Fugara 4' (II. Manual) with a Terz 1 3/5', and Cello 8' (Pedal) with a Baßflöte 4'. In 1971, the organ was renovated by Hirnschrodt, but soon it was decided to have the organ replaced by a new instrument, better fitting to the original concept of Brandenstein. This was built in 1980 by Guido Nenninger.
