Municipal: Écaussinnes
Region:Wallonie
Address: Place Cousin, 7190, Écaussinnes-d'Enghien
Description nr.: 2054962.
Built by: E.F. Walcker & Cie. (1905)
The choir organ of the Sacré-Coeur in Écausinnes-d'Enghien was installed in the church in 1977 by Georges Delmotte. The instrument was acquired from the chapel of the Institut du Sacré-Coeur in Mons. The year of construction is not known, but it probably dates from the early twentieth century. The first school in Mons opened in 1905, so the organ may also date from that year. The maker is said to be the Walcker company, and an inscription 'opus 352' has been added to the console. The organ with opus number 352 by the firm Walcker & Cie. from Ludwigsburg is a completely different organ, built in 1878, and this organ does not appear at all in Walcker's work list. The builder's name is probably incorrect. In 1955, the Congrégation des Filles du Sacré-Coeur merged with the Congrégation des Filles de Marie from Leuven.
