  • The Sint Augustinuskerk in Antwerp was built in Baroque style in the years 1615-1618 after a design by Wenzel Coebergher. The organ in the church was built by Theodoor Smet in the years 1837-1839. It is likely that he took over material from an earlier organ (or other older organs), including parts of the organ case. Part of the pipe work is certainly eighteenth century. It was a two-manual organ with eighteen registers. The instrument was expanded around 1860 with nine registers by Henri Vermeersch. In 1891 the organ was completely rebuilt by Petrus Stevens. The result was a romantic organ with twenty-two stops.
  • In June 1976, the organ was disassembled by the company Pels-D'Hondt, except for the organ case, and stored in connection with a restoration of the church. The church building was withdrawn from worship by the diocese and was handed over to the City of Antwerp. Only the organ case of the organ has been restored. This remained empty in the church, while the interior remained in storage.
  • The building has been used as a music center with the name AMUZ for some time. Research is being done to see in which form the organ could best be reconstructed. Because funds still have to be raised, it will be certainly several years before there will be a playing organ in the beautiful organ case in the AMUZ.
