1957 Manufacture Lorraine des Grandes Orgues Haerpfer & Erman  new organ
2007 Bernhard Kutter  restoration

  • In 1956-1957 the company Haerpfer-Erman built a new organ for the Sankt Lutwinuskirche in Mettlach. A large part of the pipework was taken from the old organ, an instrument by Koulen from 1904. The organ has three manuals and pedal. On the Sunday of the Trinity, June 16, 1957, the organ was inaugurated with a concert by Josef Zimmermann, organist of the Cologne Cathedral.
  • In December 2005 Bernhard Kutter started a thorough overhaul of the instrument. The electro-pneumatic action has been replaced by a new electric action, the voicing of the pipework has been revised, and the wind supply has been improved. Furthermore, some alterations in the disposition have been made. For example, the Fagott 16' of the Schwellwerk was modified into an Oboe 8', the composition of the mixed ranks was changed. A new flute series was placed on the pedal, while the old Flute was placed as Soloflöte 8' on a separate wind chest as 'Auxiliar Werk'. This register can be selected at the Hauptwerk as well as the Rückpositiv. On August 26, 2007, Winfried Bönig, organist of the Cologne Cathedral, played the inaugution concert.
