Mutin designed the organ as a concert organ for the concert hall of the Russian Tsar in Moscow. However, due to the Russian revolution, the order was canceled. Mutin hereafter installed it in the empty organ case in Douai. On November 12, 1922, the organ was dedicated with a play by Louis Vierne.
