  • In 1851 an industrial exhibition was held in London's Hyde Park. Henry Willis placed a specially designed concert organ in the Crystal Palace here. This organ had 70 stops divided over three manuals and pedal. After the exhibition it was sold and placed in Winchester Cathedral. Adviser on this was Samuel S. Wesley. The instrument was modified when placed in Winchester, and was expanded by Willis in 1896/1897. After this, the organ was worked on by the company Hele & Co. (1905) and by Harrison & Harrison (1938, 1988 and 1997). The 1997 works were in collaboration with Nicholson & Co.
  • In 2023 a project started for a renovation of the instrument.
